How to save money on cable TV, internet, and phone: 2 extremely simple ways to spend less on cable TV and home phone. Plus save on internet.
One hundred years ago, cable TV and internet were not part of anyone’s budget.
Nowadays, it would be hard to exist without them, and they account for a large portion of everyone’s budget.
Fortunately, there is a quick fix for this problem.
In this post, I will show you how to save money on cable TV, internet, and phone.
Let’s dive in.
How To Save Money On Cable TV Internet and Phone
As I alluded to above, there is a very simple solution to save money on these services.
Are you ready for it?
Here it is:
Get rid of cable TV and your home phone. Cancel them completely.
It’s that simple.
Just call your cable TV provider and cancel your cable at your earliest convenience.
If they provide home phone as well, cancel that unnecessary service immediately.
Cancel Cable TV
Cable television is an outdated, overrated service that some people still pay for.
It’s overpriced and you have to pay for a bunch of channels you don’t even watch.
Of course, some people still pay for it because they watch sports.
To that I would say that it’s still a waste of money and time.
Once you are old enough, you will realize that athletes are just a bunch of kids.
I still enjoy watching basketball playoffs, but I realized that NBA players are just a bunch of kids. With the exception of a few veterans, most of them are just kids that make the same mistakes that regular kids do. They are really just overpaid guys that put a ball in a hole.
Obviously, this is just a personal opinion and I’m using it to illustrate a point about cable TV. To each their own.
It’s just that you could become a lot smarter if you spend your free time listening to wiser people. Furthermore, it’s possible to do this practically for free on YouTube. So, it’s cheaper than TV and you can actually learn something.
Moreover, alternative services are available such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. For a much lower cost, you can gain a vastly superior service for all of your entertainment needs.
Cancel Home Phone
Home phone should be as dead as paid phone booths.
To put it bluntly, it boggles my mind that some people still pay for home phone.
I mean, what is the point of having a phone at home that you can’t even access when you leave the house? Why pay for something that you can’t even use half the time?
And why would you have a home phone and cell phone?
Can someone tell me the point of having two different numbers?
Not only is home phone an unnecessary expense, it’s also confusing.
Think about the last time you tried to get a phone number from a person with a home phone and a cell phone. I’ll bet it was a confusing experience.
They will tell you their cell phone and home phone and proceed to say something like:
“if you don’t get me on my home phone, call my cell at…”
Personally, I don’t get it, unless you have a private business line or something.
Anyways, even if it only costs you $15 per month, you should cancel your useless home phone plan right away.
As an alternative solution, just use a cell phone instead. It’s a superior option that allows you to be contacted at any time.
Internet Savings
Saving money on internet is a little less clear than saving on cable TV or home phone.
Because unlike the other two, the internet is essential.
Basically, there are three ways to save money on the internet:
- Talk to your internet provider about different plans
- Switch to a more affordable internet provider
- Cut back the data on your smartphone plan and use WiFi instead
If your internet provider is not willing to provide a better price, switch to a different company.
For your smartphone data plan, if you work from home or if your employer provides internet, try to lower the amount of data included in your plan. Then use WiFi as much as possible to save money.
How To Save Money On Cable TV Internet and Phone – Final Thoughts
Now you know how to save money on cable TV, internet, and phone.
Occasionally, the solution to a problem is so simple it’s almost stupid. I think that’s the case for saving money on cable TV and home phone.
Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated, though.
If you are spending money on cable TV and home phone, you are likely throwing money down the drain. It might not seem like a lot of money and you might not like change. But small amounts of money add up, and you probably won’t miss either of these services at all.
So, after you finish reading this post, call your service provider and cancel cable TV and home phone. Just get rid of them. It will make your life less confusing anyways.
Your cell phone is a more viable option for calling, and there are plenty of more affordable solutions for watching TV.
Now I’d like to hear from you. I’m curious to know if you still have home phone or cable TV? If you do, are you a boomer or a millennial?
