2019 Dividend Income Update Review – Reports # 20 through 31
One of the highlights of the year was buying AAPL at $164.78 on December 12, 2018. Since then Apple shares have increased to over $298 while paying dividends. My only problem is that I should’ve bought more. My position is very small.
Otherwise, I did well on Suncor Energy, Enbridge, and Fortis in 2019. The energy sector was kind to the RTC portfolio last year.
As for the low points, I learned that quality businesses will always be the superior option to higher yields.
Unfortunately, I received a few dividend cuts during the year: SRV.UN and on HLF.
But overall, I can’t complain because the market returns this year were bizarre. It was certainly a generous year for investors.

Dividend Income Update December 2019 – Concluding Thoughts
Despite the career and life changes that happened in 2019, I still managed to grow the dividend business by 43.97%.
Although I did not meet my financial goal to earn at least $670, I’ll take the way it turned out overall, because my lifestyle is better. I have more time now because I work part-time.
Of course, I could’ve stayed at my full-time job and stuck with the safer route. Perhaps I would’ve exceeded $670 in dividends this year, and perhaps my projected dividend income for the year would’ve been between $800 to $1,000. But the purpose of investing is to improve your financial situation and lifestyle anyways. There must be a purpose behind the investment decisions.
In conclusion, December 2019 was my highest month for dividend income yet, as $80.38 was received. This brought total dividend income for the year to $561.77. Hopefully I can keep this momentum going in 2020 and achieve my goal to earn at least $628.27.
