Another month has passed, so it’s time to report how much blog income was earned.
Although it has been challenging to keep up with my blogging schedule lately, I still found a way to grow website traffic and blog income last month.
In this article, I will review my blog income, expenses, website traffic, and marketing strategies for blogging.
Let’s get started.
Check out the previous blog income report for September to find out why I share my blog income publicly.

- 654% YoY income growth compared to October 2020
- 183% YoY growth from Monumetric display ads

- 3rd month in a row for triple digit income
Blog Income Report October 2021 — $183.16
I earned $183.16 from blogging in October 2021.
After blog expenses, which were more than usual this month, a net profit of $79.68 was earned.
Compared to last year, blog income is up by a whopping 654%. It was only my 2nd month of being paid from Monumetric display ads last year. It’s interesting to look at how far I’ve come since then.
Blog income was generated from a combination of Monumetric display ads and for publishing a sponsored post.
Monumetric display ads, which is my most consistent source of income, generated $68.68 during the month.
Otherwise, I earned $114.48 (after conversion) for a sponsored collaboration.
For the record, I do not publish sponsored posts or include sponsored links frequently on the blog. I only work with trusted clients and I will only publish articles that add value to the blog. Fortunately, I was able to work with a trusted partner for a second time on this blog. I am very happy with how the collaboration turned out and I hope to continue working with them in the future.
Below is a breakdown of my October blog income:
Blog Income October 2021
Sponsored collaboration — $114.48 after conversion to CAD
Monumetric display ads — $68.68
Total blog income in October 2021 — $183.16 CAD
Net Profit — $79.68
Blog Expenses Breakdown
I spent $103.48 on blogging in October 2021.
This was my second most expensive month this year.
To be clear, I could easily lower my blog expenses if I wanted to.
But I don’t rely on blog income at all to pay for my expenses. So, I am willing to put most of it back into the blog. It’s a fun experiment to be able to pay for my blog expenses and reinvest back into the blog.
Anyways, this month was more expensive than usual because I had to renew my domain.
This is a once per year expense depending on how long you renew for.
Otherwise, I spent money on the usual in October 2021 — Canva Pro, Bluehost web hosting, and Ubersuggest.
On the bright side, I remained profitable despite spending more than usual.
Even though I spent $103.48 during the month, I still managed to keep $79.68.
$18.36 of my net profit was saved and allocated for investing. The remaining $61.32 was added to my blog spending account.
I should also note that the blog spending account is beginning to build up. I could easily pay for more than half a year’s worth of blogging expenses with it. So, I may look to invest a chunk of it back into the blog soon.
Here is a detailed breakdown of my blog expenses:
Blog Expenses Breakdown
Domain renewal + security — $41.20
Ubersuggest — $29
Canva Pro — $19.20
Bluehost Webhosting — $14.08
Total — $103.48
Website Traffic In October 2021 — 10,083 Page Views
Page views got back to over the 10,000 after dipping below that mark last month.
Frankly, I haven’t been able to work on the blog as much as I’d like to lately. My work schedule is a lot busier than what it was last year.
But even with limited time and effort, page views increased by nearly 14% compared to October 2020.
I believe it would be a lot higher if I was able to put more hours into blogging.
Nevertheless, blog users increased by over 106% and sessions increased by more than 84% in October 2021.
Social Media & Email Subscriber Growth
A good portion of my website traffic comes from my social media and email subscriber following.
Before diving into the numbers, I just want to thank everyone who follows and subscribes.
It means a lot that you are supporting my journey to financial independence.
As of November 8, 2021, here is a breakdown of social media and email subscriber growth since last month:
Twitter – 3,606 followers (Up 40)
Pinterest – 1,635 followers (Down 34)
Instagram – 862 followers (up 10)
Facebook – 132 followers (Up 2)
E-mail subscribers – 448 subscribers (Up 9)
Total RTC audience: 6,683 (Up 27)
I have been spending more time on Twitter and it shows. Twitter is the social media channel I enjoy using the most, and it also drives more traffic than any other channel.
Unfortunately, my Pinterest growth ended up following similar pattern as the PINS stock — downward. I lost 34 followers on Pinterest over the past month. But it’s because I have basically stopped putting any effort into the platform at all. Although it was once a primary traffic driver and one of the main blogging tasks to focus to focus on, I’ve given up on it. It stopped driving traffic even if I put in effort. Frankly, it’s a lousy platform that I don’t enjoy using. There is a lot of garbage content on there with pretty images that lead to nothing.
Otherwise, Instagram and e-mail subscriber growth remained steady. I don’t focus too much on Instagram either, as it is not a big traffic driver. I post there to have a presence.
On the other hand, I view value email subscribers and I was happy with the email subscription growth.
Content Published in October 2021
I published 13 new blog posts in October 2021.
To accomplish this, I maintained my blog post schedule. I publish new posts every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Admittedly, this schedule is catching up with me now that I’m working full-time hours. But I will try my best to maintain it. I feel like I failed if I stop.

Goals For The Blog In November 2021
Similar to last month, I am going to keep my blog goals fairly simple because I have been working a lot lately.
In short, I want to maintain my blog posting schedule and focus on social media marketing on days I have to work.
Besides those two goals, I am hoping to grow my website traffic over November 2020.
Admittedly, it will be a challenge. I was working half the hours per week that I am working these days.
Hopefully I can make it happen.
