Financial Independence haters act like the goal of retiring early is to do absolutely nothing. They seem to think that FI is about never earning another dime again.
Well, here’s a news flash for y’all…
THE FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE COMMUNITY IS NOT LAZY!
We’re not a bunch of schmucks stashing our money away to sit around and watch TV. Is that what you thought?!
In fact, we’re likely the type to not watch T.V. at all. It just doesn’t bring enough value to our lives, and cable is an extra expense we can cut out.
Nevertheless, I present to you: F.I.E.E. – Financial Independence Entrepreneurship Early.
We Pursue Financial Independence for Meaningful Work.
Though many bloggers and Investors pursue financial independence to travel, which is an admirable and awesome reason, most of us are pursuing FI to work on something meaningful. We want to spend our time working on what we love.
In my case, I am pursuing financial independence to spend my time on investing and blogging.
Frankly, I feel like this blog is a fringe success because I’ve earned money from it before, and I seem to be figuring out a business model that could work.
I’ve put a lot of time and effort in to RTC, which I now consider to be the cyborg version of myself lol. I’m coming up on 3 years of blogging in December 2018. Over this time, I’ve learned how to make money and understand the different ways that earn the most money.
For example, sponsored posts earned the most income in the first year of blogging. If I wanted to earn the most money possible from blogging, and if I wanted to treat it more like a business, technically, I should focus on selling sponsored posts. But there is a bit of a road block. It’s important to be professional and avoid any potential conflicts of interest while I’m still working. To be upfront with you, I have avoided sponsored posts and certain types of affiliates to avoid conflicts of interest. Hence why I only maintain a Bluehost affiliate page and Google Adsense ads on the blog as of right now. Any potential income opportunities are carefully selected and rare.
The potential income streams that blogging offers are becoming clear, though. Since the blog now has a clear purpose and aim (FI through investing), there is more clarity about the type of content to publish on this blog. Furthermore, I seem to have finally figured out how to build an email list, and there are signs of success with building a social media following as well.
To take the blog to the next level, I must improve upon what has already worked, make an effort to sell, scale what I am doing now through paid advertising, commission a graphic designer, and add a product or service. I’ve got years of work ahead of me, but I do believe I can generate a supplemental income from blogging. The best part is this is what I love to do. This is the meaningful work I want to spend time on 7 days a week.
F.I.E.E. – Financial Independence Entrepreneurship Early – How FI helps Entrepreneurship
In short, I want to build a dividend cash flow stream to comfortably work on the business of blogging.
I am at a point where I am 100% committed to blogging and dividend investing as a full-time career goal. It might take up to 15 years, but I’m willing to be patient and work hard. It’s the process that matters the most in life anyways.
I should add that I’m not entitled about it at all. I just know this is how I like to spend my time, and I believe I’ll have a small business with RTC in a few years down the road.
To help support the entrepreneurship dream, I am saving money and investing in the dividend business every two weeks. And that’s where financial independence comes in. Financial independence is like a support beam for entrepreneurship. It provides the cashflow necessary to support oneself while working on a business.
As I mentioned in my elite scheme to blog and dividend invest full time, I am aiming to build a $18,360 cash flow stream to have passive income flowing in while I work on blogging. This figure will increase annually to keep up with inflation.
Essentially, having my own basic income stream means I have to earn less money from a business. I only have to create a small business that generates $10,000 to $20,000 per year. Of course, I’ll try to earn more, but I won’t experience as much financial pressure because I reached financial independence first.
[bctt tweet=”F.I.E.E. – Financial Independence Entrepreneurship Early” username=”reversethecrush”]Why not just pursue entrepreneurship now instead of FI?
In my estimation, entrepreneurship and financial independence are tied together. At least in my case they are.
The RTC Blog does not exist without the portfolio, and dividend investing becomes less interesting without blogging. It’s that simple.
And entrepreneurship is about managing money and risk, or hiring someone to do that for the business.
On the other hand, Financial Independence allows for Entrepreneurship at a different pace.
It’s not that I don’t want to work as hard as other entrepreneurs. It’s that I’m just a normal person working a full-time job and blogging on the side right now. I’m trying to do this in the most risk free way possible.
In addition, I’ll never have to cut corners or do things for money that I don’t want to.
Ultimately, I’m going to look back one day and think of these days as the best days of my life. That’s what always happens. The process is more enjoyable than the freedom I will eventually enjoy once I reach FI. That will become normal and there will be new goals to set.
As such, I am focussed on building dividend income and setting myself up for a future career as a blogger.
Concluding Thoughts on F.I.E.E. – Financial Independence Entrepreneurship Early
There are many full-time bloggers out there supporting their passions by reaching financial independence first.
Don’t believe me? Check out the RTC blog-roll. I’m sure you’ll find a few good examples of financially independent entrepreneurs.
By the way, I am not trying to change the FIRE acronym either. I’m still focussed on financial independence to retire early too. Even though I aim to be a full-time blogger, I want to travel and enjoy life more as well.
In conclusion, I decided that my truth for chasing FIRE was worth mentioning. I am really chasing FIEE. (Financial Independence Entrepreneurship Early). I want to be financially independent, but I never want to stop working on the things I enjoy.
